BACMF Success and 2018-2019 Season
The first annual Bay Area Chamber Music Festival was a huge success! Thanks to our partnership with the Bay Area Youth Symphony, we were able to offer a week-long chamber music camp to 70 students ranging in grade level from elementary to graduating seniors. The students were engaged in daily chamber music rehearsals, coachings, and masterclasses. They all performed stellar concerts this past Friday night, August 3. We look forward to continuing this opportunity during the summer for students to learn and study chamber music!
Our 2018-2019 Season is sure to offer an exciting round of concerts. Our first concert, Images, takes place on Friday, September 28 at Clear Lake United Methodist Church at 7:30 pm. We chose to open our season with a concert featuring music with descriptive nicknames or titles, given either by the composer themselves or over time by the surrounding culture. Each piece offers a unique image or concept that we hope our audiences can envision while listening to and, hopefully, enjoying. Joining us again for this concert are guest violinist Dr. Yu-Fang Chen and guest composer Dr. Chin Ting Chan, both professors at Ball State University. Other musicians include veteran CLCE performers, all teachers in the CCISD area. The program includes Haydn's "Horseman" String Quartet, Dr. Chan's "Thread" for Violin Duo, Philip Glass' String Quartet No. 2 "Company", and Dvorak's "Dumky" Piano Trio.
The remaining season concerts will take place on Thursday, November 15, Friday, March 1, and Friday, May 3. Remember, all concerts are FREE!
We hope to see you at one of our concerts!
